NEW YORK — Serena Williams will team up with Carlos Alcaraz to create a powerhouse mixed doubles pair in her return to the U.S. Open. The U.S. Tennis Association announced Saturday that Williams and Alcaraz had been given a wild card into the tournament. The mixed doubles main draw begins Tuesday.

Tennis legends Serena and Venus Williams took the court together at the Cincinnati Open on Monday night but it was a Mason native who helped steal the show from the sisters.

Serena Williams will play doubles alongside her sister, Venus, at the Cincinnati Open Aug. 17. It is her first appearance in Mason since 2022.

The sisters are also expected to potentially play at the U.S. Open later this month, Jon Wertheim of Tennis Channel reported last month.
