New teams of crisis intervention and community violence prevention workers will soon roam portions of the CTA’s Red, Blue and Green rail lines.

The CTA is bolstering its rider-centered efforts with a new Safe Ride Specialist program pilot to provide resources that are dedicated to promoting safe travel for every rider. The Chicago Transit Board has awarded four professional services agreements supporting the Chicago Transit Authority's (CTA) new Safe Ride Specialist program pilot.

The Chicago Transit Authority board on Wednesday approved a $10 million, yearlong Crisis Intervention Safe Ride Specialist Pilot program designed to complement the recent boost in security and police on trains and buses.

Police used the incident to remind locals not to chase after an offender if spotted.

Commuters can expected mayor delays while riding CTA Yellow Line trains on Tuesday morning. The CTA said Yellow Line trains are standing at Howard due to signal problems. Delays are also impacting the Red and Purple lines.

The Frequent Network provides bus service every 10 minutes or less. The new routes include the No. 35 31st/35th, No. 74 Fullerton, No. 85 Central and No. 8 Halsted routes.

Chicago police said three suspects and a man, who has a valid FOID card and concealed carry license, exchanged gunfire near a CTA Blue Line station on the city's Northwest Side, but no one was hit.
