Ten defendants were sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a South Florida cocaine network supplied by a Mexican drug cartel, prosecutors say.

The U.S. Treasury on Thursday sanctioned 15 people for their involvement in a network that allegedly shipped thousands of kilograms of cocaine per month from Ecuador through Mexico, destined for the United States.

The U.S. on Thursday imposed fresh sanctions on 15 individuals and entities based in Ecuador for their roles in an alleged maritime cocaine trafficking operation.

The U.S. sanctioned an Ecuador-based network accused of using fishing vessels to move thousands of kilograms of cocaine toward Mexico each month.
