The money helped complete the zoo’s Florida Waters exhibit and expand its existing Straz Family Manatee Rescue.

The project is estimated to cost about $21 million, but the final budget has not yet been confirmed. At about 16 acres, it will also be one of the largest expansions in the zoo’s history.
